EPDM rubber roofs need a specific prep sequence before any coating will bond reliably. The substrate carries talc residue and oxidation that has to be lifted, and rubber will not accept a generic primer the way asphalt or metal does. CleanAct Rinsable Primer is the water-based EPDM Activator designed for the job: it cleans and primes in one step, removing talc while activating the rubber for coating adhesion. GAF Cleaning Concentrate handles initial surface prep, and Multi-Purpose Primer (two-component water-based epoxy) builds the bond layer.
